Dennis Wilson, DVM

Hospital Administrator

Dr. Wilson is a third generation native Nevadan, growing up in Carson City. His children and grandchildren are also proud Nevada natives!

Dr. Wilson graduated from Carson High School and the University of Nevada, Reno. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, cum laude, from The Ohio State University in 1985. Since then, he has accumulated a wide range of companion animal practice and hospital management experience.

He practiced small animal medicine in Carson City, NV and Atascadero, CA before starting his emergency career in Stockton, CA. In 1992, he returned to Reno to help start the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center (AESC), serving as hospital administrator, member of the Board of Directors and emergency clinician. With the growth of AESC, Dr. Wilson transitioned to Hospital Administrator exclusively in 2006.

Dr. Wilson is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Nevada Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. Dr. Wilson was honored as Nevada’s Veterinarian of the Year in 2017. His area of special interest is veterinary practice management and development.

In his spare time, Dr. Wilson enjoys anything to do with the wonderful Nevada outdoors, especially wildlife conservation volunteering. His definition of a perfect day is spending time with family and friends backpacking and fishing.
