Welcome to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC)! Services at our 24-hour facility include specialty care and emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Specialty Services

While referrals for specialty cases are not required, we do recommend that you first visit your family veterinarian in order to receive initial guidance. Appointments for Surgery, Cardiology, and Oncology must be made in advance and can be scheduled by calling directly at 775-851-3600. Currently phone consultations are not offered.

Here’s what you need to know before coming in for your first visit:

• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to get checked in.
• Please bring any relevant blood work, x-rays, and information regarding your pet’s diet and medicines.
• When possible, all involved parties should be present at the initial consult to hear all pertinent information regarding your pet. The consultation is the ideal time to ask questions to help you make the best decision possible.
• Once you are checked in, the surgeon and a veterinary nurse will meet with you to review your pet’s history, perform a physical exam, and assess the current problem. Additional diagnostic tests may be necessary.

Emergency Services

In the case of emergency, if your family veterinarian is unavailable, please contact us immediately. List of symptoms that require immediate emergency attention.

When faced with a veterinary emergency, call ahead to the office with the animal’s breed (or approximate size), age, present symptoms and any other health problems. While on the phone, confirm the exact location of the clinic.

Upon arrival, your pet will be assessed for injuries first by a nurse and then by a doctor. After the Doctor has performed an exam we will prepare a cost estimate for you to review and approve before treatment is performed.
