As many veterinarians, Dr. April Heinsch knew from a young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian when she grew up. In her senior year of high school Dr. Heinsch applied and was accepted to the early entry veterinary program at Mississippi State University. She graduated from veterinary school in 2000 and left to practice companion animal medicine in Las Vegas. It wasn't long until she felt the need for greater challenges and made the shift to emergency medicine. In 2011, Dr. Heinsch moved to back to Reno with her fiance, and she began working at Animal Emergency Center. Dr. Heinsch began to notice during her ER hours, that there was a great need for rehabilitation and recovery for her patients in the Reno/Sparks area, which lead to her interest in canine and feline rehabilitation (P.T. for cats and dogs). She recently went back to school and obtained her certification in canine and feline rehabilitation. Now as a C.C.R.P she has developed a passion for helping pets return to a comfortable, normal lifestyle and home life wether it be from an orthopedic surgery, or traumatic injury.
